The Hagia Sophia entry system project to divide the entrances for worshippers at Hagia Sophia from those used by foreign visitors who come to the old mosque for cultural reasons is now complete. The new application will start on 15th of January 2024.
Within the framework of the restoration and conservation works launched by the Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Ersoy in the Hagia Sophia-i Kebir Mosque, the ticket office positioned opposite the Ahmet III Fountain of the gallery floor prepared for visitors will be put into service on Jan.15.
On the part of Hagia Sophia entry system, protective precautions were implemented throughout the tour route at Hagia Sophia-i Kebir Mosque, where security cameras, fire detection, and emergency announcement systems were also erected.
On the marble coverings and wooden railings on the gallery floor of the mosque, the cleaning and conservation works were carried out by restorers and conservators with the consent and consultancy of the Scientific Committee.

Entrance Fee
Visitors will be able to access information in 23 languages via the QR code application system in Hagia Sophia without disturbing the worshippers by using their mobile phones or the disposable headphones that are given. When foreigners visit the old mosque for tourism, they will be required to pay an entrance fee of 25 euros.
