A hotel that will float in the ocean, spin, and generate its own electricity has been designed. Hayri Atak Architectural Design Studio from Turkey designed the Eco-Floating Hotel. The company revealed its hotel design on Instagram, stating that it is planned for Qatar but may also be used in other locations.
Each of the 152 rooms at the hotel will have a balcony. The hotel will also feature swimming pools, a gym, a spa, and areas for mini golf and other activities, according to HAADS.
The hotel will take 24 hours to complete a full rotation. The hotel’s roof will generate electricity from the wind and sun as it spins. Rainwater will be collected on the roof for the gardens. The hotel will filter seawater for other purposes and clean its own wastewater to avoid pollution.

The Eco-Floating Hotel will be accessible by boat or by traveling up a floating pier from the shore. Guests may also arrive via helicopter, which will land on the pier.
The Eco-Floating Hotel’s design began in March 2020, and HAADS hopes to complete it by 2025. Nevertheless, it is unclear whether the hotel will be built.
This isn’t the only floating hotel proposal in Qatar. Admares and Sigge Architects are constructing 16 floating hotels, each with 101 rooms. To prepare for the FIFA World Cup in 2022, the country is creating thousands of extra hotel rooms.
