The Palandöken ski resort is situated at the mountain village of Başköy, 2,100 metres (6,890 feet) above sea level, on the road from Erzurum to the top. The range between the station and the city is 4 kilometres.
The ski trail is Turkey’s longest. Palandoken is known as Turkey’s best mountain for skilled skiers due to the quality of the snow (fine-grained light powder), the steepness of the slopes, and the length of the course. The Ejder (Turkish meaning “Dragon”) track, located on the mountain’s backside, is the most difficult run. The Ejder lifts and routes are occasionally closed due to fog and avalanche danger. The ski season can start as early as November and last until June. More lifts were added between 2008 and 2010, bringing the total to eight, and the trails were renovated.
Skiers who took advantage of the opportunity to visit Palandöken, one of Turkey’s most popular ski resorts, had a great day on the slopes. Residents who had never seen snow before came to Palandöken over the weekend, in addition to skiers. Skiing was enjoyed by local and international visitors who took advantage of the weekend break at Palandöken Ski Resort.
