Karagöl, which changes its appearance with the seasons in Artvin’s Borçka region, welcomes nature enthusiasts with fall colours. Borçka Karagöl Natural Park, located in the city, where nature takes on colours of yellow, orange, and red, provides unquenchable views of fall colours to its tourists. Borçka Karagöl, a 368-hectare park 27 kilometres from the district centre that was built in the early nineteenth century as a result of landslides and the closure of a stream by a mass of soil, attracts tens of thousands of local and foreign visitors each year.
With its diverse plant life and distinctive natural setting of neighbouring valleys and forests, the natural park is one of the city’s most popular tourist destinations. The nature park, which draws attention with its reflections of trees in dozens of shades of green in the summer, yellow, orange, and red in the autumn, is also preferred for its accessibility. Many nature lovers and photographers from Artvin and the surrounding provinces travel to the region to observe and shoot the charms that Karagöl presents in the fall.
